Construction work for the new cistern in Nyorrit

Die Bauarbeiten für die neue Zisterne beim Brunnen in Nyorrit kommen planmässig voran. Nachdem vorletzte Woche die umfangreichen Aushub-Arbeiten für das Fundament der Zisterne als Eigenleistung der Massaibevölkerung abgeschlossen wurden, hat man in Nyorrit ein kleines Fest organisiert. Zu diesem Fest waren Vertreter der Dorfregierung Loiborsoit mit Lengai S. sowie Markus H. von ENKAINA-E-RETOTO eingeladen. Im An-schluss zum Fest gab es leckeres, traditionelles Ziegenfleisch vom Grill. Zwischenzeitlich konnten Emanuel und sein Handwerker-Team mit dem Bau des Fundamentes starten und bereits die ersten Lagen an speziellen Zementblocksteinen verlegen. Zurzeit wartet man auf den Transport weiter Baumaterialien wie Zementsäcke, Armierungseisen sowie Sanitärmaterial. Auf der selben Anhöhe, nicht weit von der neu zu errichtenden Zisterne, hatte man vor über einem Jahr ein weiteres Bohrloch gebohrt, wo man auf über 100 Meter Tiefe auf Grundwasser gestossen ist. Dieses Bohrloch gehört zu einem weiteren geplanten Wasserprojekt, in welchem man mit einer über 12 km langen Wasserleitung den Dorfteil Lemooti mit Trinkwasser versorgen möchte. Wegen dem sehr felsigen Untergrund, kann man in Lemooti selber keine Bohrlöcher und Brunnen anlegen. Die neue Zisterne kann ggf. später auch für dieses noch zu planende Wasserprojekt als temporärer Zwischenspeicher genutzt werden. Von dem im letzten Jahr renovierten Brunnen in Nyorrit werden demnächst alle neuen Wasserleitungen zur Zisterne verlegt, damit das Brunnenwasser bereits zum Bau der Zisterne einfacher genutzt werden kann. Von der neuen Zisterne werden später ebenfalls neue Wasserleitungen zu der etwas abseits gelegenen Viehtränke verlegt. Construction work for the new cistern in Nyorrit
The construction work for the new cistern at the well in Nyorrit is progressing according to plan. After the extensive excavation work for the foundation of the cistern was completed the week before last, (local Maasai population’s own contribution), a small party was organized in Nyorrit. Representatives of the Loiborsoit village government with Lengai S. and Markus H. from ENKAINA-E-RETOTO were invited to this celebration. After the party delicious, traditional goat meat from the grill was offered. In the meantime, Emanuel and his team of craftsmen were able to start building the foundation and lay the first layers of special cement blocks. We are currently waiting for further building materials such as cement bags, steel rebars and sanitary materials to be transported. On the same hill, not far from the new cistern, another borehole was drilled over a year ago, and groundwater was discovered at a depth of over 100 meters. This borehole is part of another planned water project in which a 12 km long water pipeline would be used to supply the Lemooti village area with drinking water. Because of the very rocky subsoil digging boreholes and wells is impossible in Lemooti. If necessary, the new cistern can later be used as a temporary storage facility for this water project. All new water pipes will soon be laid from the well in Nyorrit to the to be built cistern so that the well water can be used more easily to build this cistern. New water pipes will later be laid from the new cistern to the cattle trough, which is located a little further away.
