Children’s party at the start of the school year

In Tansania beginnt das neue Schuljahr immer nach den Ferien zum Jahreswechsel Anfang Januar. Wie in jedem Jahr haben wir aus diesem Anlass vor Schulbeginn am 7. Januar 2023 unsere Patenmädchen zum Kinderfest an den ENKAINA-E-RETOTO Hauptsitz nach Loiborsoit eingeladen. Die unterstützten Massai-Mädchen kamen mit ihren ihren Müttern, Vätern oder auch Grosseltern und Geschwistern. Die Schulmädchen haben kleine Geschenke erhalten, die sie in der Schule gut gebrauchen können, wie Schulhefte, Stifte und andere Schreibutensilien. Auch Hygieneprodukte wie Seife, Zahnpasta und Zahnbürste sind dabei.
Zusätzlich haben wir eine Evaluierung über schulische Leistungen und die familiäre Situation der Mädchen durchgeführt. Erfreulicherweise haben in diesem Jahr alle Siebtklässlerinnen den Übertritt in die Sekundarstufe geschafft. An dieser Stelle möchten wir den erfolgreichen Schülerinnen dazu herzlich gratulieren. Zum Abschluss des Kinderfestes gab es Essen und Trinken für alle. Für Unterhaltung sorgten Ndungu und Landi mit einer Akrobatikshow.
Im Anschluss an das Kinderfest wurden für alle unterstützten Mädchen Schuluniformen und Schuhe auf dem Markt in Loiborsoit gekauft. Unsere langjährige Projektkoordinatorin Nengajiang betreut die Schülerinnen der Sekundarstufe, die im Internat untergebracht werden. Für die neuen Schülerinnen besorgt Nengajiang alle Notwendigkeiten für das Leben im Internat, wie Matratzen, Bettzeug, Kochgeschirr und andere Haushaltsartikel sowie je eine Aufbewahrungsbox.
Wie wir schon in den letzten Jahren erfahren hatten, besteht in der Gemeinde Loiborsoit eine sehr grosse Nachfrage nach Schulpatenschaften. Denn ENKAINA-E-RETOTO unterstützt vorzugsweise Mädchen aus wirtschaftlich benachteiligten Familien. In diesem Jahr haben wir vier Mädchen in der Primarstufe und vier Mädchen in der Sekundarstufe neu ins Patenschaftsprogramm aufgenommen. Insgesamt unterstützen wir jetzt 56 Massai-Mädchen, davon 24 in der Primarstufe, 30 in der Sekundarstufe und zwei auf Universitätsstufe. Vier der Sekundarschülerinnen haben sich an der Universität beworben und warten noch auf die Resultate. Wir sind zuversichtlich, auch für die neu ins Programm aufgenommenen Mädchen, Sponsoren zu finden…
Children’s party at the start of the school year
In Tanzania, the new school year begins after the New Year holidays at the beginning of January. As every year, before school starts we invited our sponsored girls to the children’s party at the Enkaina-E-Retoto headquarters in Loiborsoit on January 7th, 2023. The supported Maasai girls came with their mothers, fathers or even grandparents and siblings. The school girls have received small gifts that they can use at school, such as exercise books, pens and other writing utensils. Hygiene products such as soap, toothpaste and toothbrushes were also included.
In addition, we carried out an evaluation of the school performance and the family situation of the girls. Fortunately, all seventh graders made the transition to secondary school this year. At this point we would like to congratulate the successful students. At the end of the children’s party there was food and drinks served for everyone. Ndungu and Landi entertained everybody with an acrobatic show.
After the children’s festival, school uniforms and shoes for all supported girls were bought at the market in Loiborsoit. Our long-time project coordinator Nengajiang looks after the secondary school students who are housed in the boarding school. For the new students, Nengajiang provides all the necessities for life at the boarding school, such as mattresses, bedding, cookware and other household items, as well as a storage box for each.
As we had learned in recent years, there is a very high demand for school sponsorships in the municipality of Loiborsoit because Enkaina-E-Retoto primarily supports girls from economically disadvantaged families. This year we accepted another four girls in primary school and four girls in secondary school into the sponsorship program. In total we are now supporting 56 Maasai girls, 24 of them in primary school, 30 in secondary school and two at university level. Four of the secondary school students have applied to the university and are still awaiting the results. We are confident that we will also find sponsors for the girls newly admitted to the program…
Sherehe ya watoto mwanzoni mwa mwaka wa shule
Nchini Tanzania, mwaka mpya wa shule huanza baada ya likizo ya Mwaka Mpya mwanzoni mwa Januari. Kama kila mwaka, kabla ya shule kuanza tulialika wasichana wetu waliofadhiliwa kwa karamu ya watoto katika makao makuu ya Enkaina-E-Retoto huko Loiborsoit mnamo Januari 7, 2023. Wasichana wa Kimasai walioungwa mkono walikuja na mama zao, baba au hata babu na nyanya na kaka zao. Wasichana wa shule wamepokea zawadi ndogo ambazo wanaweza kutumia shuleni, kama vile vitabu vya mazoezi, kalamu na vyombo vingine vya kuandikia. Bidhaa za usafi kama vile sabuni, dawa ya meno na miswaki pia zilijumuishwa.
Aidha, tulifanya tathmini ya ufaulu wa shule na hali ya familia ya wasichana. Kwa bahati nzuri, wanafunzi wote wa darasa la saba walifanya mabadiliko ya kwenda sekondari mwaka huu. Kwa hatua hii tungependa kuwapongeza wanafunzi waliofaulu. Mwisho wa sherehe ya watoto kulikuwa na chakula na vinywaji vilivyotolewa kwa kila mtu. Ndungu na Landi waliburudisha kila mtu kwa onyesho la sarakasi.
Baada ya tamasha la watoto, sare za shule na viatu vya wasichana wote walioungwa mkono vilinunuliwa katika soko la Loiborsoit. Mratibu wetu wa mradi wa muda mrefu Nengajiang anaangalia wanafunzi wa shule ya upili ambao wanaishi katika shule ya bweni. Kwa wanafunzi wapya, Nengajiang hutoa mahitaji yote ya maisha katika shule ya bweni, kama vile magodoro, vitanda, vyombo vya kupikia na vifaa vingine vya nyumbani, pamoja na sanduku la kuhifadhi kwa kila moja.
Kama tulivyojifunza katika miaka ya hivi majuzi, kuna hitaji kubwa sana la ufadhili wa shule katika manispaa ya Loiborsoit kwa sababu Enkaina-E-Retoto kimsingi inasaidia wasichana kutoka familia zisizojiweza kiuchumi. Mwaka huu tulikubali wasichana wengine wanne katika shule ya msingi na wasichana wanne katika shule ya upili katika mpango wa ufadhili. Kwa jumla sasa tunasaidia wasichana 56 wa Kimasai, 24 kati yao wakiwa shule ya msingi, 30 katika shule ya upili na wawili katika ngazi ya chuo kikuu. Wanafunzi wanne wa shule ya sekondari wametuma maombi ya kujiunga na chuo kikuu na bado wanasubiri matokeo. Tuna imani kuwa tutapata wafadhili kwa wasichana waliokubaliwa hivi karibuni kwenye mpango…
