Further start-up help for the OSILIGI women

Die innerhalb der OSILIGI-Frauengruppe organsierten 35 VICOBA-Gruppen (Village Community Banks) sind weiterhin sehr erfolgreich unterwegs. Im kommenden Jahr wer-den in vielen der 9 Subvillages auf dem Gemeindegebiet von Loiborsoit erfahrungsgemäss weitere VICOBA-Gruppen gegründet. In den weit vom Dorfzentrum Loiborsoit entlegenen Dorfteilen wie Mbuko, Loolosesia und Lemooti sind die Randbedingungen für die Lancierung neuer Kleinbusiness-Projekte der Massaifrauen bekanntlich schwieriger. Die noch ca. 20 Bienenkästen, welche innerhalb des kürzlich abgeschlossenen Teilprojektes zur Unterstützung der Massaifrauen (Gemeinnützige Projekte 2022/23 – 2. Teil) angeschafft werden konnten und zurzeit noch am Hauptsitz von ENKAINA-E-RETOTO eingelagert sind, werden wir demnächst an ausgewählte neue VICOBA-Gruppen in Lemooti abgeben können. Diese bienenfreundlichen Kästen sind eine sehr willkommene Starthilfe zum Ausbau des Bienenprojektes der Massaifrauen. In Lemooti gibt es viele Steppenbäume, welche für Bienen eine attraktive Umgebung bilden und für die Produktion von Honig sehr gute Voraussetzungen bieten. Die OSILIGI-Frauen verkaufen und vermarkten ihren Wildhonig über die Organisation APW (African People and Wildlife) in Loibor Sirret / Noloholo (Label: Mama Asali). Bislang konnte für die OSILIGI-Frauengruppe noch kein idealer Standort zum Bau einer eigenen Honigproduktionsstätte auf dem Gemeindegebiet von Loiborsoit gefunden werden. Nun gibt es diesbezüglich erfreuliche Nachrichten. In Zusammenarbeit mit AWP soll schon Anfang 2024 ganz in der Nähe von Lemooti eine neue Honigprodutionsstätte gebaut werden. Auf diese Weise muss der Bienenhonig aus Lemooti zur Weiterverarbeitung nicht mehr über die Distanz von mehr als 70 km bis nach Loibor Sirret transportiert werden. The 35 VICOBA groups (Village Community Banks) organized within the OSILIGI women’s group continue to be very successful. In the parts of the village that are far away from the village center of Loiborsoit, such as Mbuko, Loolosesia and Lemooti, the conditions for launching new mall business projects by Maasai women are known to be more difficult. However, from experience it can be expected, that additional VICOBA groups will be founded in many of the 9 subvillages in the municipality of Loiborsoit in the coming year. The approximately 20 bee boxes that were purchased as part of the recently completed sub-project to support the Maasai women (non-profit projects 2022/23 – 2nd part) and are currently still stored at the ENKAINA-E-RETOTO headquarters will be given to selected new VICOBA groups in Lemooti. These bee-friendly boxes are a very welcome start to expanding the Maasai women’s bee project. In Lemooti there are many steppe trees, which create an attractive environment for bees and offer very good conditions for the production of honey. The OSILIGI women sell and market their wild honey through the APW (African People and Wildlife) organization in Loibor Sir-ret / Noloholo (label: Mama Asali). So far, the OSILIGI women’s group has not been able to find an ideal location to build its own honey production facility in the municipality of Loiborsoit. But now there is good news in this regard. In collaboration with AWP, a new honey production facility is to be built near Lemooti at the beginning of 2024. In this way, the bee honey from Lemooti no longer has to be transported a distance of more than 70 km to Loibor Sirret for further processing.
