Maasai are happy about the completed renovation of the trough in Olekitejo

Vor wenigen Tagen konnten die letzten Arbeiten zur Totalsanierung der Viehtränke in Olekitejo abgeschlossen werden. Angesichts der bedrohlichen Dürre, welche in ganz Nordtansania herrscht, ist die Massaibevölkerung sehr froh darüber, dass ihre Viehtränke endlich saniert und planmässig ausgebaut werden konnte. Die Sanierungsarbeiten der alten Viehtränke in Olekitejo, welche ungefähr in der Mitte zwischen den Dorfzentren Loiborsoit und Emboret liegt, konnten im Juni gestartet werden. Als erstes wurde das alte, desolate Pumphäuschen abgerissen und durch ein neues stabiles Gebäude ersetzt. Zu diesem Zweck musste die Wasserpumpe nur für sehr kurze Zeit ausser Betrieb genommen werden. Im neuen Pumpenhaus wurde der alte noch voll funktionstüchtige Dieselgenerator integriert, sowie Platz für eine neue Steuerung geschaffen (zur zusätzlichen Betreibung der Wasserpumpe mit Solarenergie). In diesem Zusammenhang sollen bei der Viehtränke in Olekitejo in naher Zukunft weitere Solarpanels installiert werden. Bei den Sanierungsarbeiten wurde ein moderner Trog fertig erstellt und undichte und korrodierte Wasserleitungen ersetzt. Weiterhin wurde eine zusätzliche Bezugsstation für Trinkwasser zwischen dem neuen Pumpenhaus und der Zisterne installiert. Zudem wurde ein modernes Gebäude für den Brunnenwärter inkl. einer kleinen Werkstatt für einfache Reparaturen errichtet. Letzte Woche wurden die letzten Malerarbeiten an diesen Gebäuden abgeschlossen. Die Massai aus Loiborsoit hatten dem Handwerkerteam von Emanuel Amedeus geholfen, den Bauschutt der alten Gebäude wegzuschaffen sowie alte Rohrteile und Baumaterialien zu entsorgen. Demnächst soll auch der nahegelegene, neue Brunnen in Orkitejo weiter ausgebaut werden. Zusammen mit den Massai hoffen wir vor allem, dass die nächste Regenzeit zeitnah einsetzen wird, frisches Steppengras spriessen kann und somit Linderung für die ausgemergelten Viehherden der Massai bringen wird…

A few days ago, the final work on the total renovation of the cattle trough in Olekitejo was completed. In view of the threatening drought that prevails throughout northern Tanzania, the Maasai population is very happy that their drinking could finally be renovated and expanded as planned. The renovation work on the old trough in Olekitejo, which is located roughly halfway between the village centers of Loiborsoit and Emboret, started in June. First, the old, desolate pump house was demolished and replaced by a new, stable building. For this purpose, the water pump only had to be shut down for a very short time. The old, still fully functional diesel generator was integrated into the new pump house, and space was created for a new controller (for additional operation of the water pump with solar energy). In this context, further solar panels are to be installed at the cattle trough in Olekitejo in the near future. During the renovation work, a modern trough was built and leaky and corroded water pipes were replaced. Furthermore, a station with taps for drinking water was installed between the new pump house and the cistern. In addition, a modern building was built for the well keeper, including a small workshop for simple repairs. The final painting work on these buildings was completed last week. The Maasai from Loiborsoit had helped Emanuel Amedeus‘ team of craftsmen to remove the rubble from the old buildings and to dispose old pipe parts and building materials. The nearby new well in Orkitejo is also to be expanded in the near future. Together with the Maasai, we hope above all that the next rainy season will start soon, fresh steppe grass can sprout and thus bring relief for the emaciated herds of the Maasai cattle…
Wamasai wanafuraha kuhusu ukarabati uliokamilika wa kisima cha maji huko Olekitejo
Siku chache zilizopita, kazi ya mwisho ya ukarabati wa jumla wa banda la ng’ombe huko Olekitejo ilikamilika. Kwa kuzingatia ukame wa kutisha unaoenea kote kaskazini mwa Tanzania, idadi kubwa ya Wamasai wana furaha sana kwamba kisima chao cha maji kimewezekana kurekebishwa na kupanuliwa kama ilivyopangwa. Kazi ya ukarabati wa kisima cha maji cha zamani huko Olekitejo, ambacho kinapatikana kati ya kijiji cha Loiborsoit na Emboret, ilianza Juni. Kwanza, nyumba ya pampu ya zamani, ilibomolewa na kubadilishwa na jengo jipya, imara. Kwa kusudi hili, pampu ya maji ilipaswa kufungwa kwa muda mfupi sana. Jenereta ya dizeli ya zamani, ambayo bado inafanya kazi kikamilifu iliunganishwa kwenye nyumba mpya ya pampu, na nafasi iliundwa kwa mtawala mpya (kwa uendeshaji wa ziada wa pampu ya maji na nishati ya jua). Katika muktadhari huu, paneli zaidi za miale ya jua zitawekwa kwenye kibanda cha mifugo huko Olekitejo katika siku za usoni. Wakati wa kazi ya ukarabati, kisima cha kisasa ilijengwa na mabomba ya maji yaliyoliwa na kutu yalibadilishwa. Zaidi ya hayo, kituo chenye mabomba ya maji ya kunywa kiliwekwa kati ya nyumba mpya ya pampu na kisima. Aidha, jengo la kisasa lilijengwa kwa mtunza kisima, ikiwa ni pamoja na gereji ndogo kwa ajili ya matengenezo rahisi. Kazi ya mwisho ya uchoraji kwenye majengo haya ilikamilika wiki iliyopita. Wamasai hao kutoka Loiborsoit walikuwa wamesaidia timu ya mafundi wa Emanuel Amedeus kuondoa kifusi kutoka kwa majengo ya zamani na kutupa sehemu kuu za bomba na vifaa vya ujenzi. Kisima kipya kilicho karibu katika Orkitejo pia kitapanuliwa katika siku za usoni. Pamoja na Wamasai, tunatarajia zaidi ya yote msimu ujao wa mvua utaanza hivi karibuni, nyasi mbichi za nyika zinaweza kuota na hivyo kuleta ahueni kwa mifugo waliyodhoofika…
